The Memphis Belle is getting restored!

And because of it's decades long exhibitions, it was occasionally robbed of small items, and if anyone can reconnect the parts with the plane, it would be tremendous!

Some parts got loos other ways, like breakage, and here http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123338080 is a story of an engine primer knob getting back to the Belle! (It was found near where the Memphis Belle had been parked aka breakage)

B-17F Memphis Belle®The inboard wings have been mated to the fuselage and the landing gear has been lowered for the aircraft to sit on. Sheet metal repairs continue on the forward belly. The pilot's instrument panel and the missing bomb bay door is being fabricated from factory blueprints. The bomb bay door sheet metal repairs are also being worked. In addition, the wing root items are being fabricated and installed and the engines have been installed on the aircraft. Volunteers are restoring the tailgunner position and connecting the engine controls and accessories. Structural repairs are also being performed on the vertical fin and horizontal stabilizers. Click here to view a photo slide show of the Memphis Bellerestoration or here for more information and photos

Note: The original Memphis Belle was on static display in Memphis, Tenn., until October 2005. At that time, it was transported to the museum where it is now undergoing restoration.

Arnold in Commando, lousy movie editting, but it was the 80's and focused on the shoot ups and explosions

Above, the Blazer was a good idea, the bad guys toss the ignition wires, so Arnold's character has to push the Blazer to the edge of the hill and let gravity roll it downhill and after the bad guys who kidnap his daughter, Alyssa Milano

Sunbeam Alpine that kept switching through the scene from having fender badges and a front license plate to having neither

Marty Robbins when he raced in Nascar

if you've never heard of Marty, he was a great singer song writer of westerns. Not this nonsense contemporary line dancing pop country... but westerns. Gunfighters, bandits, the Mexico border, etc etc. Very Zorro era type imagery.

James Garner, was on hand at War Bonnet raceway (near Tulsa Oklahoma) when Don Yenko won the race... Don got the parade lap, James Garner got the trophy queen on his lap.

found on Google Books, because I looked up James Garner at War Bonnet. He was walking around, not racing, and I suppose just generally interested in the SCCA racing.

but proving I've got the coolest readers... John sent me a photo he took as a kid in the pits, of James at this event

the beautiful Rolls Royce in the movie "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"

why the radiator cap/hood ornament is a rooster I can't figure out

according to IMCDB it is a 1935 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Fixed Head Coupe by Hooper. They had a commentor mention that Cinema Vehicles made one from a 2003 Chevy truck. Makes sense, to have one "hero" car that is original for close up glamour shots, and a couple look alike modern ones that can drive around and not cause the insurance company a heart attack. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_364814-Rolls-Royce-Phantom-II-1935.html
