timely, topical, and tasteful - Fireball Tim has a BIG BOOK of Wacky Rides for kids. It's cool!
Tim, he's great guy, and read a bit about him at the end of this post to be truly amazed at how diverse his talents are, is also a kids book author. Sharing his humor and enjoyment of concept car designs with kids, he's made up 36 hot rod rides/ goofy fun car ideas that you've heard of perhaps, but not seen on paper.
You've heard of a snot rocket, and a gumballer... but not like the above!
In categories that range from Big Boomers, ElecTricks, HugeSters, Tiny Racers, Teeny Rockets, World Travelers and Yum Sters... these concepts are fun and entertaining... even topical to the "Green" "Solar" and "Electric" movements
Kids and adults like me will get a kick out of this book, but of course teens are going through a phase where they probably can't admit the book has cute stuff in it. Oh well. It's available at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1933492813/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1933492813&linkCode=as2&tag=starwarscust-20 (Check out the reviews here, all positive!)
and Barnes and Noble

where did the 4 wheeler pedal bikes go? I've only ever seen 3 wheelers, and in the 80's the atv 3 wheelers were soon declared dangerous. Are pedal 3 wheelers dangerous to little kids when cornering?
the 3 wheeler ATV was judged to be unsafe a couple years after hitting the market, and everyone switched to 4 wheelers... right? So did that change anyone's notion about buying their kids pedal 3 wheelers, because I don't think I've ever seen a 4 wheel pedal bike for little kids. Yes, this is off the wall, but here's a photo from the 30's or 40's with a kid on a 4 wheeler. It got me wondering

I found a fun photo site the celebrates Americana and the wonder years of the 40's 50's and 60's
How come I've never seen any barber shop with this genius approach to kids haircuts?
was also posted on Fifties50s.blogspot at another post about the cool old collectible stuff at Rosmalend Holland http://fifties50s.blogspot.com/2012/10/rosmalen-rock-around-jukebox-octobre.html where the vendors were charging 2 to 3 times the value of things according to the blogger, and I am pretty sure by the amount of focus on collectibles, he's an expert. Awesome photo gallery coverage of so many collectible events, like Hersheys etc etc
How did this train get into this predicatment?

most unusual... I think you'll agree. A Rolls Royce woody school bus served in Kenya to bus kids to soccer and cricket mateches, was built for a Maharajah as a regular Silver Ghost, but commandeered by the British Govt and built as an armored car for WW1 ended up used to drive HRH Princess Margaret to an agricultural show . Solidly in first place for "reality is bizarre" trophy
photos and story at http://www.couperus.org/Rolls/index.html
After many more years, it was restored and now lives in South Wales where some of the students that had ridden in it when it was a woody bus were met by the new owner and reunited with it. http://www.couperus.org/Rolls/Rolls2.html
