How Mopar Muscle magazine went from original publisher to present day Source Interlink Media

From the creator, Larry Dobbs, to Petersen Publishing, to McMullin then Source Interlink Media.

Thats 4 owners, and likely a car during that period of time, 1988 to present, would have 4 as well

Keeping an eye on all the subscription notices you might spot a deal

the above shows the difference is half between the top form and the card on the bottom

the Auto week is 10 dollars off by using the top form instead of the card

Elapsed Times is on the magazine racks, for about $7.50

I've always enjoyed this special edition the most from Car Craft... I just bought this issue, it was finally in the store shelves last week. I haven't had time to read it yet, but the older issues are awesome.

Is the subscription department at Source Interlink Media in need of brains? Cause they are the most annoying people, and they're irritating me

Exhibit A: The cover of my latest Mopar Muscle magazine was inside this notice that my subscription is about at an end. Oh, and in the lower right hand cover, the big ol words, "BEST DEAL EVER" and "EXCLUSIVE OFFER!"

Off to the left: Save BIG

Exhibit B: the price of the BEST DEAL EVER and EXCLUSIVE OFFER is the card in the lower right hand side

Above, zoomed in on to make it easy to read, the BEST DEAL EVER is 12 issues at JUST $29.97

Below, is the drop out card, that falls where ever you open that magazine, and it has the same 12 issues at $26.97 * Plus $3 annual postage & handling

So the BEST DEAL EVER? the same price as the fall out card that will be thrown away by whoever cleans out the magazine racks of all of these annoying subscription post cards. EXCLUSIVE OFFER! was the part that pissed me off... this is the same price they have for new subscribers, nothing special, nothing EXCLUSIVE to the subscriber at all.

So why should I get pissed? They had me at BEST DEAL EVER, which is the same deal as before, not "EVER" but always, and then spun me up more with EXCLUSIVE to everyone , in which factually no one has an exclusive on it, unless we exclude the people that can't read English in America, because they can't get the magazine for this price shipped out of the lower 48 states.

These same morons did the 3 years or 2 years at the same price here: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2008/08/i-got-both-of-these-in-mail-on-same-day.html

I had a job interview and a tour at Source Interlink Media (parent company of Hot Rod Magazine and Motor Trend)

Ummm, I was asked to interview for a job basically doing website content and editing  Hey, it's pretty cool that they think I can do a great job though I've had no college or university education in communication, websites, search engine optimization  or whatever else major magazine and website corporations want in editors.

But I don't live in LA, and that's a job requirement, being able to get into the office and hold down a desk job.

You might think they are hiring the competition, and that might be true. I'd rather think that they've looked at my site, liked its content quality and content, and that my stats are about 1/3rd what they do. For my hobby, in my spare time, vs their 40 hour a week pro employees and SEO. Heck, can you blame me for having a look at what I could get paid to do? Hell no. But I'm in San Diego, 2 hours away from their office. So I had to pass.

Past the reception area:

Past one of the cube farms of Motor Trend and into the garage area that Garage Mahal tv show did a make over on:

if you are a reader of Hot Rod you might recognize the Demon on the top rack, or Dave Freiburgers 70 Superbee. Oh, by the way, you can see the progress hasn't gotten far on the Demon

I got to thank Thom Taylor in person for recommending this blog in Hot Rod Magazine! http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/12/best-compliment-of-month-and-honorable.html was my online thank you

Into the photo studio, where beautiful women models (as opposed to car models) are getting personal hair stylists and make up artists to enhance their natural good looks

getting catering by Noah's, with Red Vines, Naked juices, and strawberries. Veggie platter, Orbit gum, and grapes. Now that is a cool way to take care of models!

bitchin table! Even has headers!

Above: the list of guests at the magazine HQ I think. Pretty cool to get your friends and business acquaintances to autograph a board like this, even put on a sketch or pinstripe   that is very cool

and the only interesting cars in the parking lot

Buh buh buh daaaah! (or whatever the music is for Jaws... ) I got into the ARCHIVES! Hot rod archives!

and the guy with the coolest job in the hot rod world, gets to work on all those archives!

Such a nice guy, and lucky! I shoulda rubbbed his head for luck.

Anyway, I asked to be put in his will as the next guy with his job, and he said he'd already been paid off to put someone else in his will for it. Damn. The beat me to it.

I guy can dream right?

the magazine rack in the Petersen Museum has a damn good selection

They have a hell of a good selection, but don't have the Rodders Journal, or Motor trend Classic. I've never seen "Whoops" before, it might be a one timer

two new magazines the appear interesting, but I haven't looked through yet
