Not really in the spirit of "Protect and Serve", I think this could easily be mistaken for sneaky and rotten

I actually do spot cops like this, it's rare to get to photograph them like this though.

But I circled back to get a shot from across the intersection, to give him a chance at redemption if he wasn't sitting to snipe the oncoming traffic, but that is exactly what he's doing. Big surprise right? Is there anything impossible about a cop hanging out where they can be seen?

Finally, a cop that isn't hiding in the shadows. One that is being bold enough to let the speeders and stop light runners know he's there.

So for the first time in 6 years of posting photos of police behaving badly, I can applaud the motorcycle cop here for standing out from the worst behaving cops you'll hear about, the vast majority that I've photographed parking in the streets, not the parking spots, smoking cigars in their cop car at a gas pump, parking against the traffic pattern,  radar gunning from the shade where they are hard to see, and all the rest.

What will a corrupt city government do to get your money in fines? Paint a handicap parking around your car, then tow your car, fine you, and get a cut of the towing and impound fines. Nice huh?

thanks Steve for the story! (he wanted me to see the cool tow truck (side forks that allow a narrow street parallel parked car to get hoisted onto the flatbed while parked beside it in traffic))

Here is the great part, it was all captured on a security camera across the street, and the car owner was smart enough to check for that. She's avoided the fines (total $365 USD) got her car back, an apology from the mayor, and publicly (using facebook) exposed this scam.

Some photos remind me of others.... the NYPD airplane at Bennett Field reminded me of the SDFD Aerial Truck

Top photo from http://www.scoutingny.com/ I'm pretty sure

maybe you see why. The bottom photo is from the Clairemont Fire Department wall of interesting photos http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2011/09/betcha-never-heard-of-aerial-truck.html and you can see that it's an "Aerial Truck" and I didn't make that up... and that has been posted for over a year and I've never had a comment about the term Aerial Truck yet. I still think it's pretty odd.

Here's another reason Autoblog is one of the best in this vehicle coverage business, the Jeep that almost made it into the US over the border, but got high centered on the fence (we need a higher fence and a moat. Or just a single Marine. (If you want results that is)

in this photo provided by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a silver Jeep Cherokee that suspected smugglers were attempting to drive over the U.S.-Mexico border fence is stuck at the top of a makeshift ramp early Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 near Yuma, Ariz. U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Station seized both the ramps and the vehicle, which stalled at the top of the ramp after it became high centered. The fence is approximately 14 feet high where the would-be smugglers attempted to illegally drive across the border. The two suspects fled into Mexico when the agents arrived at the scene. make sure your car insurance company insures your HID headlights, especially if you own a Porsche

It is believed that the headlights make for ideal lighting solutions when growing marijuana indoors. The high-intensity discharge bulbs give off more heat and require much less power than standard grow lamps, yet, critically, they offer the right quality of light and heat. According to De Telegraaf, as many as 20 Porsches fell victim to this trend, resulting in thousands of dollars in damage. The cost of a typical HID assembly for hydroponics can run from $100 to $500, and up.
